µMonitor V1.1 – New features!
There will be shortly a new updated version on cydia (as soon as our friends at zodttd receive and update the new app, I sent it!). The new version has:
- Adding torrents: you can search for torrents and add them. They will start downloading immediately. Currently the search is done over at mininova.org and torrents are sorted by feeds. – Once the search is done, just tap on one torrent to start downloading!
- Sorting: now torrents can be sorted by: status, name, label, size, progress
- Searching: not finding your torrent between all the ones that you currently have? Just hit the search bar and you will get it for sure!
- Preferences: now it is possible to insert the address field in these way:

- Overall performance: should be better, well, the code looks better, and minor bugs have been fixed
Upcoming features
- Multiple profiles: to edit different instances of uTorrent (or simply different locations)
- More choices while adding torrents (in particular, different search engines, such as: isohunt.com, torrentz.com, eztv.it) – We’re open to suggestions, write down which torrents site you use, and we’ll see if we can include them!
- Bug fixing! Please report any bug the application has, and we’ll see how to fix them!
- Feature requests: feel free to suggest anything, we’ll see what we can do! And if you donate we’ll hear even more! :)

I absolutely love this app! I noticed that when I stop a torrent, it takes a while to react and return to main screen. Is this an inherent issue of the WebUI itself? I would like to have the ability to limit the bandwidth (and other entries in Options, if possible) Is there by any chance that you will get around to enhance the app icon to make it more slick? Like rounding the edges and adding shine to the icon? Thanks.
The waiting time is normal and depends on the connection to the client. As for the icon I’m in talks with the cydia maintainer to make it slick like all the other apps! For the options I will look into them, but if it’s not possible with the webui it’ll hardly be possible with this! Thanks for the comment!

still no source code available for developpers that don’t want to jailbreak their iPhone ? ;)
And anyway opening the code under cvs/svn would allow a lot of good thing to come from the community ;)
I know everything about open-source software. Still, the code it’s not even close to being releasable. And apart from that for now I’m keeping it for myself and my friends. If you want the application you may consider a donation. Anyway, if you give me your device-id (UUID) I can give you a special version that will run on your device (installable through iTunes, without any jailbracking required – It’s called ad-hoc distribution).
it would be cool if rather than searching public sites for torrents, we could just use a torrent file that is saved locally on the phone. this would make it possible to use private sites without the need for the program to be customized on a site by site basis.
people could just use safari to browse their private site of choice, download the .torrent file with a safari plugin (available on cydia) and then put it in your program.
Or even better would be to allow for pasting a direct download link for a torrent from any site. Then we could search our private sites separatelyand just copy URL and paste into uMonitor. No need to mess with actual torrent files locally on phone.
That is actually a very good suggestion! I will look into this direction!
I posted a comment but I think it went to another thread. I would just like to chime in on a bug. When I do more than two actions like stop a torrent and try to start or stop another one the app crashes. It doesn’t always immediately crash but if I click on something it crashes. As far as feature requests I would like the ability to make at least one extra profile. When I leave home different settings are needed to monitor my torrents. With a second profile we would be able to keep the original settings and just add the new one before we step out. Other than that I would like to thank you for creating this wonderful app. Keep up the good work.
I would like to see demonoid as a tracker added to the list. Its good stuff, nothing but high quality torrents. If you don’t have an account with them yet let me know and I’ll send you an invite.
Oh, and I second the “Delete .torrent” bug.
The .delete torrent bug should be fixed in the latest release!

Any chance you could make revolutiontt.net searchable? It’s one of the best private trackers IMO.

when a delete a torrent.
if i want to delete torrent and date it wont work its red. and cannot do data and file. but i can live with that.
It’s just hard to press (and I don’t know why), try pressing it on the top edge!

I will look into the crashing when removing a torrent. Can you tell me if it’s when you delete just the .torrent or both the .torrent and data?
It crashes for me with either option, but only if I stay on the details page for the deleted torrent. If I immediately go to the main list of torrents, there is no crash and the torrent is gone from the list.
Maybe it’s trying to refresh the details for the nonexistent torrent?

Feature suggestion: Allow loading of new torrent files from the device’s file system. (Such we can search and download a .torrent file from Safari and saved it, we can load it using uMonitor.)
This I’m not actually sure how to do. Can you save files from Safari on the iPhone filesystem? If yes, I might look into it!
This is a brilliant app, thank you very much for making it! :D
I use the RSS Downloader feature a lot and being able to sort by Date (“Added on”) would be sweet, to have the most recent items on top.
If you have nothing else to do, I’d love some lighter colors and white for labels :)
Bug: Deleting a torrent quits the app and drops me back to the Springboard.
And finally, some torrent sites I use: thepiratebay.org, hdbits.org, demonoid.com, tvtorrents.com
I have invites for the last two, let me know if/where I should send them.
